A report on job market trends in banking and financial services during March has found that average permanent salaries increased by 5.19% year-on-year. The latest Talent Spotlight from Badenoch & Clark also found that, between February and March, permanent vacancies decreased by 1.75% and contract vacancies decreased by 2.58%. Guy Emmerson, operations director of banking and financial services at Badenoch & Clark, said: “Hiring managers in accounting and finance are placing more importance on experience ahead of qualifications for contract roles, as they are required to make an immediate impact in areas such as cost control, regulatory expertise and BAU work. “For permanent roles, excellent qualifications are more important as managers look to recruit the best talent long-term.” Additional market data: • Permanent vacancies down month-on-month to 9,011. • Finance manager salaries up year-on-year by 11.57% to £55,631 in London and £46,326 on average. • Contract salaries up 5.07% year-on-year. • Contract vacancies down month-on-month to 377.
